Borneo looks incredible! Wow am I envious about seeing those orangutang 🦧 out in the wild 😭❤️ loving the south east Asia series so far. And the BIRDS! You’ve got such an eye for wildlife photography!!
What have your accommodations been like? Lots of hostels? Guest houses? Any memorable places you’ve slept?
we've been staying in all sorts of different accommodations. I'm sure we'll cover that more in a future post haha
In Borneo, we stayed in a little family-run hotel, a quaint bed and breakfast, basic rooms with our own bathroom (sometimes a double bed or two single mattresses), to a hotel where we had a nice view of the back alley where we could see the many rats milling around! quite a mix!
WOW so many wallpaper-worthy photos! I especially love the macaque + orange one, I wonder what thoughts are behind those eyes… I’ve heard about those Borneo leeches but for some reason expected them to look a lot scarier. Perhaps you should’ve let one have a nice meal so we could feel a little less jealous of your experience ;) hahaha
Such beautiful photos! I love that round, red bird. The leeches sound like a nightmare but an adventure all the same. I'm glad the socks were useful and not a tourist scam. I also love the photos with the layers of trees and fog in between. Very cool. So interesting to learn about the community living over the water. I can't help but think how climate change will majorly impact their safety over time. Thanks for sharing with us!!
What a beautiful eye-opening experience you two have given us to Borneo. The pictures of the wildlife, birds, fauna and all the creatures of the rainforest are breath-taking. I can only imagine what it is like for you to have experienced that firsthand so authentically. I think I could be friends with an orangutan....such beautiful creatures. As always, wishing you safe travels and looking forward to your next blog installment! LUL

Hi Shannon and André,
I really am enjoying the cultural and geopolítical nature of your blogs. Very pedagogical.
Thank you so much for sharing your adventures.
